Take a second. Stay secure.

Take a second. Stay secure. is the theme for Cyber Security Action Month 2026.

It reflects a simple idea: the small choices we make every day - at work, at home, and in our communities - play an important role in keeping us secure online.

Cyber security doesn’t need to be complex or time‑consuming. Often, it’s about taking a moment to pause and make a safer choice. A safer choice before clicking a link, sharing information, creating a password, or responding to an unexpected request.

Cyber Security Action Month is an annual opportunity for Australians to think differently about cyber security. Not as something technical or overwhelming, but as a set of simple, practical actions that can be built into everyday routines.

This October, take a second when using your devices, apps, or online services to identify a simple step you can take and stay secure.

How to get involved

Cyber Security Action Month is a chance for individuals, organisations, and communities to take simple steps and help normalise cyber‑secure behaviours.

Whether you’re at home, at work, or part of a community, you can get involved by choosing one or two actions that make sense for you and building them into your routine.

Take a second to choose the cyber security steps that you need. Small actions can make a big difference to staying safe online.
