The National Office of Cyber Security (NOCS) supports the National Cyber Security Coordinator (the Coordinator) to achieve cyber preparedness, response, and recovery activities through the following capability streams.

Preparedness for government and industry

This capability develops, plans, coordinates, and delivers collaborative programs designed to uplift cyber incident preparedness across the Australian economy including industry and Critical Infrastructure stakeholders.

This capability develops and participates in practical scenarios, such as Tabletop Exercises (TTX), that improve nation-wide understanding of consequence management to cyber security incidents.

Response to major cyber incidents

This capability can support organisations during a cyber incident by:

• bringing together government stakeholders
• determining what government equities or obligations exist and collaborate on a plan of action
• establishing tailored working groups to help address specific consequences pertaining to the incident
• supporting communications plans and ensuring alignment with any government messaging required.
